Capoeira Quilombo
May 6th - 7th, 2017

Picture
Capoeira is a vibrant mix of fluid movements and entrancing rhythms. A quilombo refers to the free cities founded by a mix of run-away slaves and indigenous in the jungles of Brazil. These settlements were egalitarian centers of harmonious culture and regenerative living. This weekend together with Mestre Avestruz (Joe Williams) and the Knoxville Fundo Da Mata group we'll pay homage to this lifestyle, and this art.

Activities will include the following:
  • Morning yoga asana and meditation
  • Intro to Capoeira Workshop
  • Intermediate Class
  • All Levels Roda
  • Capoeira Music Class (songs and instruments)
  • Creativity for Social Innovation Workshop
  • Intro to Permaculture Workshop
  • Fireside stories and songs
  • Roda de Capoeira

Come explore this martial art and the way it can harmonize our efforts to find balance in a world that needs it so urgently. Through an exploration of the Permaculture principles and the way they fit with Capoeira, we'll experience this liberating practice in the beautiful natural setting of Seven Springs.
